Product List – Peanuts & Tree NutsIn shell peanuts
Inshell peanuts, often referred to as Monkey nuts, are peanuts that are still in their protective outer shell.
Monkey nuts still in their shell represent a raw form of peanuts, which can provide an excellent source of protein and a number of nutrients, such as Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, and Magnesium.
Peanuts grow all over the world, and it is producers from China, the USA and Africa that lead the way in the supply of monkey nuts. Other peanut producing countries tend to favour blanched and nibbed peanuts.
For almost a decade, Uren has sourced and supplied the highest quality peanuts globally. We offer a range of packaging options to our customers, get in touch with our team for further information or to get a quote.
How are in shell peanuts produced?
Whereas other peanut products tend to go through various processing such as blanching, inshell peanuts do not. They are simply pulled from the ground and left to dry on the field for two to three weeks, they are then collected, and stored in dry storage.
After this, they are taken to a cleaning facility which will ensure the shells do not have any soil left on them. They can then be packed for shipment or shelled and further processed.
If you were to crack open the crisp dry shell you can find 2 or 3 kernels inside, with their red skins still attached.
Inshell peanut applications
This is a great quality snack for eating on the go, consumed as part of a varied and balanced diet and helping you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Once opened, the nuts should be stored in an airtight container.
There are also some great uses for the shells once the kernels have been eaten.
What can peanut shells be used for?
Peanut shells have many varied uses and some of the applications include:
- Compost and Mulch. Peanuts in general are a great crop to rotate the field with, as they introduce nutrients back into the soil.
- Cat Litter.
- Kindling - peanut shells can be dried and used to start a fire. They can be compressed into a block/log and burnt in the fire.
- Packing Material – as actual packing peanuts - peanuts are used when sending items to protect them during the journey.
