Uren is a leading supplier of IQF foods in the UK, which means we can source IQF burnet in quantities to suit manufacturing and foodservice needs.

Burnet, also known as salad burnet, is a herb that has a hardy tolerance. The burnet is native to the Mediterranean region but is naturalised as a perennial herb in Europe and North America and is used in cuisines around the world. The salad burnet plant is part of the rose family and has a unique flavour described as mildly cucumber-like and slightly tart, and it is often used in salads and for flavouring vinaigrettes, dressings, and sauces.

IQF burnet has the same great taste, texture, health benefits, and nutrients as fresh burnet but has a much longer shelf life, which maximises its convenience.

Process

Uren’s IQF burnet is sourced from our BRC accredited suppliers and is grown to industry standards.

Burnet is grown all year round and takes around 70 – 100 days to grow completely. Burnet is usually harvested in late summer. When the burnet has been harvested it is taken back to the factory to be cleaned, quality checked, and cut to size. The burnet is then individually quick frozen at incredibly low temperatures to prevent the formation of ice crystals, lock in freshness, and ensure a free-flowing product.
