Uren is a leading IQF food supplier in the UK so we can source and provide IQF butter beans in quantities to suit manufacturing and foodservice needs.
Butter beans, also known as a lima bean, are large, flat white beans with a soft floury texture. Native to South America they were first discovered in Peru with documents dating back to the 15th century showing them being used in different recipes.
Butter beans are a versatile ingredient that is commonly used to add flavour and texture to salads, casseroles, stew, and soups. Butter beans are also a main ingredient in the North American dish ‘Succotash’ and the Greek dish ‘Gigantes’. They also have an impressive nutritional profile, known as a great source of protein, fibre, potassium, vitamins, and antioxidants making them popular for use in vegan, vegetarian, and health food products.
IQF butter beans have the same creamy colour, soft texture, delicious flavour, and nutrient profile of fresh butter beans but with the convenience and longer shelf life of a frozen product.
Process
Uren’s butter beans are grown and sourced from our accredited suppliers across the globe and can even be traced back to the field. Once the bean is harvested, they are taken back to a factory where they are washed and thoroughly checked for defects. The beans are then flash-frozen at extremely low temperatures to stop the formation of ice crystals, locking in freshness and maintaining a free-flowing product.
Shelf Life: 24 Month
