Marjoram, or Origanum Majorana, is an aromatic, cold sensitive, perennial herb which is part of the mint family. It is harvested just before the flower buds open, because this is the time that the plant produces the best aroma. Marjoram has a sweet pine and citrus flavour that makes it synonymous with oregano. It’s particularly popular in Mediterranean dishes, and is often used to garnish salads, soups, and meat dishes.
IQF marjoram offers all the same flavour, texture, colour, and nutritional benefits of marjoram but with the convenience and longer shelf life of a frozen product.
Process
Sourced from our expert, accredited farmers in Belgium, Uren’s IQF marjoram is the highest quality and grown to industry standards. Harvest takes place just before the flower buds begin to open, and the tops are cut from the plants, taken to the factory to washed, quality checked, processed, and cut to size according to customer requirements. The marjoram is then rapidly frozen at extremely low temperatures to lock in flavour, freshness, and to ensure a free-flowing product.
Shelf life: 24 months from production
Packaged in 10kg cartons.
Minimum order quantity: 1 pallet.
