What does the blanching process involve?

What does the blanching process involve?

Blanching means that the nuts have been shelled, blanched, dried and peeled to remove the skin.

As a result of processing, the whole peanuts can separate and be classed as a 'split peanut'. These split peanuts are what is often used in the snack bar and peanut butter industry, as they are still 100% peanut, but visually perhaps not as aesthetically appealing as a whole peanut.

Uren can offer whole blanched peanuts in a variety of sizes. Most common sizing includes 38/42 and 50/60 with smaller sizes being available upon request.

Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)

As Uren keep UK stockholding, the minimum order quantity can be as little as one pallet (1,250kg). Other products which may not be in UK stock will require a full container volume of 25 metric tonnes.

Packaging

Uren stock a variety of sizes and packaging types for immediate delivery throughout the UK.

Our standard packaging options include tote sacks (big bags) of 950kg, 1,000kg and 1,250kg depending on the origin of supply. Get in touch for more information on packaging options.

Applications

Blanched peanuts provide a clean presentation with a high nutritive value and without any artificial flavours. Providing a salty, nutty flavour, they can be used in a range of confectionery products from nougat to peanut butter as well as savoury applications such as satay sauce, fried and spicy peanuts.

These popular nuts can be used as a snack on their own or incorporated into other recipes such as peanut butter, muesli bars and savoury snacks.

Whole peanuts have a variety of applications. Being a premium product, quite often these will be required to be more of a visual nut.
