Garlic is a vegetable that belongs to the allium family and is closely related to the onion, shallot, leek, chive, and spring onion. Garlic has been consumed for thousands of years and is popularly used as a seasoning because of its strong flavour.

Eaten raw, the garlic has a strong, pungent taste but when cooked, the flavour mellows and sweetens slightly. Garlic also has many great health benefits, ranging from lowering cholesterol to helping defend against heart attacks or coronary heart disease.

IQF garlic has the same strong taste and aroma, crunchy texture, great health benefits, and nutrients as fresh garlic but with a much longer shelf life, which maximises its convenience.

Process

Uren’s IQF garlic is sourced from our BRC accredited suppliers in China and is grown to industry standards.

Garlic is usually harvested by hand around early August to late September. When the garlic has been harvested it is taken back to the factory to be cleaned, peeled, quality checked, and cut to size. The garlic is then individually quick frozen at incredibly low temperatures to prevent the formation of ice crystals to lock in flavour, freshness and ensure a free-flowing product.

Shelf Life: 24 months from production
