Roasted Inshell Peanuts

Roasted Inshell Peanuts (Monkey nuts)

Roasted in-shell peanuts, often referred to as roasted Monkey nuts, are peanuts that have been roasted whilst still in their protective outer shell.

Roasted monkey nuts can provide an excellent source of protein and several nutrients, such as Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, and Magnesium.

Although peanuts grow worldwide, China, the USA and African countries lead the way in the supply of roasted monkey nuts. The majority of other peanut-producing countries prefer blanched and nibbed peanuts.

For over a decade, Uren has sourced and supplied the highest quality peanuts across the world. Our team is here to help you with your packaging needs.

We provide a variety of packaging alternatives to our clients, so feel free to get in touch with us for further information or a quotation.

How are roasted in-shell peanuts produced?

Raw unshelled peanuts are taken from the ground, left to dry on the field for two to three weeks, before being collected, and stored in dry storage. Inside the hard, dry shell, you'll find two or three kernels with their red shells intact.

After this, the peanuts are taken to a cleaning facility, where the shells will be cleaned of any soil. They are then either roasted on-site or packed for shipment to be roasted elsewhere.

Peanuts may be roasted in a variety of ways, but hot air roasting is the most popular.

A conveyor belt in a fan oven, such as one in a kitchen, moves slowly to ensure an even roast. Large-scale industrial roasters utilise slow-moving belts to send the peanuts through the ovens at a set pace.

Vertical roasters can also be used where many floors open and drop the peanuts onto the next, while heat rises and roasts them.

Are roasted monkey nuts healthy?

The health benefits of roasted monkey nuts are an area where they excel.

The protein and healthy fats found in peanuts can contribute to a lower overall cholesterol level, which is especially important for those people suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

They also contain a significant amount of nutrients such as Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, Magnesium and Zinc.

Do monkey nuts have to be roasted?

No, raw peanuts are perfectly fine to eat, assuming they have been dried properly and are stored in a dry place. If they are not dried properly, they can contain aflatoxin, which is a carcinogen associated with the contamination of moulds.
