LWS Night Shelter Leamington Spa

Axelle, from our Sales division, recently went down to LWS Night Shelter in Leamington Spa to volunteer and give donations. LWS Night Shelter is a volunteer ran charity which provides a hot meal and a safe place to sleep and company for the homeless and vulnerably-housed members of the community in Leamington Spa and the wider area.

Originally LWS Night Shelter was set up by 2 medical students at the University of Warwick to provide the service in the winter of 2015/16. Thanks to continued support from students and the local community they were able to remain open throughout the year and are now preparing for their third winter. Everything is ran by volunteers and from donations from people, businesses, supermarkets and restaurants.

“Having volunteered there recently I have seen first-hand that the work they do has a massive impact for the users, they offer a safe place to sleep, any and all items the users may need –even the use of a washing machine for the users clothes” said Axelle.

“This year I have asked for my Christmas presents from family and friends to be replaced with items the shelter need most this winter time. “

Seeing how much this cause meant to Axelle, Uren offered to purchase items the shelter was most in need of from their Amazon wish list. Uren also made the kind gesture of swapping her Secret Santa present for an item on the list too. This brought a tear to her eye at the Christmas party.
